New Year..

I swore I would keep up on this more so that I dont have to write these amazing catch up blogs and I can focus more time on the nitty gritty. As in, pick a small topic from the day, and tell a story in detail. I guess that will have to be the goal this year. So here lies my last catch up blog.

When I left off Joe was relocated out to VA, and I was in major destress mode about it. I am happy to report that things are going far better then I ever planned them to be. He makes tons of effort to make it home, time and weather permitting, and I have no complaints. We have even worked out a calendar system where we periodically sit down together to plan out the coming months and schedule time that works for both of us. I can not say that it has been "easy" but "bearable" would be a good term. I think that it has actually helped our relationship in a way. In recent weeks watchng my other girlfriends I can whole heartly say that too much of anything, even a great thing, like a great boyfriend.. is unhealthy. Him being away makes me greatful, appreciative, and excited every time he steps foot through my door and back into my life. I know I act like he is off in Iraq or something, but I guess there comes a certain point where if your a a certain distance away from a person, they might as well be across the world, becuase you cant see them at a drop of a hat and a drive down the street. (In no way am I saying that what he is doing even holds a candle to soldiers fighting in Iraq, but you get the idea). I have come to realize maybe distance keeps things healthy - and allows you to better appreciate the time you do have with a person instead of taking in for granted.

On another front, I have a new job. I work for a company in Radnor PA, a Philly suburb. The hours are stable and the pay is good. I am learning a lot, and I have met a few nice people. I cant say that I will stay there for ever but I can say that I am much happier now then I was working busy season hours. My life is balanced- work is what I do during the day to make money - it is no longer my life.

My 25th birthday is around the corner. If you know me then you know that I am usually the queen of throwing my own celebration - much akin to a national holiday. However, this year I have not been able to muster up the same youthful exhuberance about my birthday. I am not 100% sure but I think it may have something to do with the number? I will no longer have the comfort of being like "yeah I'm under 25 - thats not closer to 30" My only hope is that my 25th year on this earth will be filled with happiness, joy, health, money, love, challenges, and many many laughs. Oh yeah.. and things to write about in this blog.

Until next time,
Nicole

Time to catch up

Hi All,
I cant believe its been almost 2 and a half months since my last post. A lot has happened in that time, some of it great, some of it not so great. A month ago I found out Joe is getting relocated to Lynchburg VA for the next year to work on a project for his company. Its a great career move, I know that for certain, but a great relationship move, probably not. Figuring out the path of this has been pretty hard, we are going to need to find a rhythem, something we both can live with while he is away. He will be back every other weekend right now, and so we'll see. Long distance relationships are hard and confusing and not anything I signed up for when we first met.. but thats the way the ball bouces.

A few weekends ago we went to Atantic City to go to a club at the Borgotta. We had a really great time! We ate at the Bobby Flay resturant, then went to the club, then gambled until like 5:30 in the morning. It was nice to get away with him. :)

Last week, my family and I went to San Francisco, for our first famiy vacation since I started college in 2003. It was great to all be together again. We did some great things while we were there too. First of all San Fran is one of the most clean, beautiful, friendly citys I have ever been to. We went to Napa Valley and did a lot of wine tasting. The next day we shopped in Union Square, China Town, and the Fishermans Warf. The following day we went to Alcatraz where I was locked in solitary confinement for 2.5 minutes!!! It was crazy, I would never want to go to prision. The last day, we went to Solsilito and Muir Woods (where the giant red wood trees are) and did a beautiful hike through the woods. I am so lucky to be able to still get together and do fun things with my family. I wish we could take random side trips like that more often.

Joe and I are both looking forward to Rachels wedding(probably for different reasons, but we are). We have been discussing marriage a lot lately, mostly induced by me. I noticed that we definately have a difference of opinion when it comes to an appropriate marriage age. I am thinking within the next few years, and he is leaning toward 30! 30 ?! Are you kidding, if he thinks I'm sticking around until he decides hes ready at 30, he has another thing coming. My thing is, if you know you want to be with someone for the rest of your life.. why not have the rest of your life start ASAP? I'm by no means saying I want to be engaged tomorrow. But 30 is 5 years, if you dont know after 5 years, will you ever know?! And does this non-comittal 30 answer mean - he does not see me in his future forever? I dont know.. guess you'll have to weigh in.

So thats where I stand, I need to start blogging more often, I dont like these random catch up blogs, they have no theme and are a mish mash of crap scribbled on a page.

The past..the present... the future

Hi All,
It has been awhile since my last post. I swore that I would keep up with the blogging this summer, but, with moving and everything, I just havent had time. Since my last blog a lot has happened in my life.
In May, Toni, Michele, Sara and I went on a cruise to Grand Caymen, Honduras and Belize. It was so relaxing after a long busy season. I am so thankful that I can still meet up with my college friends once and a great while. I hope that no matter where life takes each of us, we still can carve time out to meet up. We were throwing the idea around that next year we would invite the significant others, but I kind of like the fact that it is just us girls.. Its a week about nothing but friendship, and no boy drama. Here is a great picture of the group.

The next big event came in June, when we moved into my new house! I love love love it! It came out beautiful and I love that my new roomate Laura moved in with Sara and I. Its a nice accomplishment to have a place of your own! As I sit here writing this blog, looking around, its amazing to think that this is really mine. I feel a sense of pride about it that I've never felt before. Yes, I have accomplished many things in my life, but none as big as buying my first house. Since I already posted pictures of the house, I wont bore you with anymore, but we had a really great house warming party. It was a great time. Here are a few photos:

For July 4th, I made my annual trip back to Rochester! It was so nice to be home! Coming home is always bitter sweet for me. In one way, it makes me miss the past; highschool; old loves; the way things were. I always get centimental going back, because it is the life I gave up to do all the things I do today. But in another respect, it reminds me of how far I have come, and how much I've gotten to since I left. I miss my family everyday, but I know I made the right choice - atleast for now. Here is a picture that I took of Lake Onterio in Rochester. This picture is on my desktop at work. It reminds me that the heart of life is beautiful and no matter how bad my days at work there is always a place to go where people will always love you no matter how bad you fuck up.

Today is August 1st. I just got back from my training for my job. I cant believe that I am going into my third year in the work world. I cant believe how these years have felt so slow day by day, but, looking back have passed in the blink of an eye. I look around and I feel so lucky. I have a great family, who is healthy and happy. I have a wonderful boyfriend who I love. I have amazing friends, a great job, and an awesome house. Lately, I am not sure how I feel about working. In one respect, I love my job, I learn so much, and I have met so many amazing people. In another respect, I feel like the hours and the pressure are a lot to take, and while I make good money, I am weighing the benefit and the cost of those dollars. I guess where I stand right now is that I have to figure out what my personal goals are. Everyone always asks just imagine where you see yourself in 5 years, or ten? I cant really answer that question right now. I am torn between wanting to climb the corporate ladder, and wanting to find a balance between work and life that would allow me to eventually marry and raise a family. My facilitator made a good point... goals are only dreams until you write them down. So, for the next few days, I am going to be pondering my future goals and write them down here soon. Until then.. goodnight.

Home Sweet Home

Hi all,
Busy season is finally over, and you know what that means, back to the blogging. The most recent news here is that I puchased a house!! Sara and I had been looking for awhile, and we stumbled across this house a few blocks from where we live now. It is 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. It has a small fenced in yard, and a deck on the roof over lookng Manayunk! Its 2200 square feet. I am so excited, yet feel very nervous and grown up. I know it will all fall into place, but I have never made this large of a puchase before. At any rate, the inspection is this Saturday so I am hoping all goes well and we dont find any issues that would inhibit us from moving in. The closing date is June 26th, and it couldnt come sooner, Sara and I have had enough of the apartment! Below are some pics from the realators website. At the inspection I am going to take some pics of my own. House warming party plans to follow soon!

These are the days..

Hey all,
Another month gone by, cant believe it time is passing quicker then I can keep up with. Lets see the last month has pretty much consisted of working. I know I say that all the time, but lately the hours have been rediculous. I get home most night around 10pm and have been working on Saturdays for the last month. I am not complaining, because with the state of the economy I am thankful and lucky to have a job as my company has laid off around 200 people in the last month.

On the personal front here are some new occurances:
I HAVE DECIDED TO BUY A HOUSE!! I know.. major step into adulthood but with mortgage rates at almost 4%.. I cant pass up this opportunity. Sara and I will be moving in July into my very first home and I am super excited. I have appointments set up with my realator thoughout the next few weeks and hopefully I can find a really cute house. I will keep you posted. I dont know.. I cant beleive we are getting to the point where we discuss mortgages, layoffs, engagements, financial situations of the economy. To think that I am almost 24 and a half is scary.. time just seems to fly alot faster these days.

Last weekend a few of us went bowling at Lucky Strike, it was a good time!! Here are a few snapshots:

Other then that I havent been doing much, this weekend we went to a BYOB for my friend Nikki's birthday. It was really nice to get out and get away from work for awhile. Unfortunatly I forgot my camera. :(

Thats all for now. xoxo

If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?

Hey All,
Its been awhle since my last post... probably becuase I just realized that I am a "bad times blogger".. pretty much, I only feel the need to blog when stuff in my life is shitty. Hahaha, however this time I am happy to report that life is.. well.. pretty perfect.

Since its been awhile I will first tell you that I had an amazing birthday with all of my friends. I have seriously the best friends a girl can ask for. Toni and her boyfriend came all the way from NYC to be with me and Meggie P jetted down from DC to ring in the special day. Not to mention, the many Manayunk friends that came to celebrate. A great time was had by all and I am so lucky to have such amazing friends. I was also thrilled that everyone from the different stages of my life; highschool, college, and today could come together and get along. (As we all know how thats gone in the past) Here are a few pics that are worthwhile.

The next big event was this weekend... Joe and I's first V-day. Friday night I got home to a beautiful bouquet of red roses when I arrived home from work. I was so surprised, it had been one of those weeks and it really cheered me up.

Friday night we went out to the bars with some friends, it was a good time.

On Saturday Joe took me to a surprise dinner for Valentines Day. It ended up being restraunt in South Philly called Keatings River Grill which was excellent. We had a four course meal that started with an appetizer of brushetta, ahi tuna and shrimp cocktail. The second course was a salad and for dinner we had fillet, crab cakes, mashed potatoes and fondue for dessert. He is so sweet and I am so lucky to have found him. Just when I had given up on love, a wonderful guy fell into my lap. My mom once told me that the best relationships come when your not looking. Truth. She also said that the best relationships start out slow. Also True. I should start listening to her wisdom more often...

Thats all for now.

Baltimore Weekend

This weekend Toni and I went to visit Michele in Baltimore. We had such a good time. It was great to see everyone including our old roomate Rachel, and psuedo roomate Adam. I miss everyone, and per Rachels advice will be posting more light hearted blogs later.
